Keep them clean and paint them a semi-gloss black. I'm not sure I've ever seen this but you might be able to sand down the paint to bare metal then polish it and clear-coat it for a badass shiny steelie. Or just do that for one portion of the wheel for a polished metal strip.

I found a picture of what I'm talking about :D

Gloss black steelies with a polished lip. If you feel like being a little on the dangerous side you could put the car up on jackstands, turn it on, and just hold sandpaper to the lip as the wheel rotates at idle speed.

Yeah, I'm considering taking off all the hubcaps. I already lost one on the way to an autocross. I didn't spray the area under the hubcap when I rattlecanned my wheels black, but I can fix that easy enough.
